We're now almost into the depth of winter and we'd love you to try our first porridge base. Feedback - after a few setbacks has been great. Our particular base is a classic porridge base with a twist - a blend of five different whole grains with golden linseed for extra texture.  This blend provides the perfect base for you to make your own porridge blends - whether that's fruity, nutty, seedy or spicy!

We've also recently added some amazing cape gooseberries also known as physalis - these little berries - not related to the true gooseberry at all - are tangy and chewy. Great when mixed with a few of our sweeter fruits - like the dates or apricots.

Multi-Grain Porridge

A classic porridge base with a twist. Our own blend of nutritious oats and barley, nutty tasting spelt and rye, protein rich quinoa and a sprinkling of golden linseed to give extra texture. Oats are well-known for their low Glycaemic Index (GI)). This blend provides the perfect base for your own favourite porridge ingredients - whether that's a classic English apple and blackberry blend or a more exotic mulberry, pistachio and cardamom mix - the choice is yours. If you like your porridge with a touch of sweetness then do check out our flavoured sugars - they really enhance the porridge when cooked and smell divine!

Cape Gooseberries

Cape Gooseberries (aka physalis or poha) are indigenous to South America. They are not actually gooseberries at all but the fruit of a herbaceous perennial which grows wild in the Andes. The fruit itself is a vibrant orange-gold colour with a delicate sweet-sour taste. Flavourwise, they taste like a cross between a pineapple and a sweet cherry tomato. Its interesting combination of tart and sweet make them a perfect and versatile match for many of our other fruits and nuts. Cape Gooseberries are especially high in Vitamin A and C, as well as in niacin (B3) and thiamin (B1). They are a good source of iron, calcium and phosphorus.
